Autopsy on Crestview man set for Wednesday

CRESTVIEW — The District One Medical Examiner’s Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy tomorrow to try to determine the cause of death for a Crestview man whose body was discovered Monday night by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigator.

Investigator Nolan Weeks was assigned the missing person case on Monday. He learned that Dennis Kretser, 53, of Hare Street, had last been seen Oct. 7 walking westbound on Highway 90.

Kretser’s wife reported him missing Oct. 9 after he didn’t return home.

Weeks — who began walking along the highway yesterday to look for clues — discovered Kretser’s body around 6 p.m. in a creek south of Highway 90, west of Palmetto Drive.

It’s unknown at this time whether Kretser was struck by a vehicle while walking on the road.

The OCSO is working a joint investigation with the Florida Highway Patrol.
