13 things you didn't know about Baker lineman Cameron Merritt

BAKER — Cameron Merritt will walk away from football in a few weeks, when Baker School’s football team ends its playoff run.

An undersized lineman, Merritt's hard work and toughness have earned him teammates and coaches' respect.

“He’s an awesome kid,” Baker Coach Matt Brunson said. “He’s kind of like I was. He’s short, by many comparisons, to other players on the offensive and defensive line, when you think about guys in a program like ours competing for district championships.

“But the guy plays hard, and he plays with great pad level. You don’t have to be tall to play down inside. He’s a true Gator because he plays with great intensity.”

We now catch up with Cameron Merritt.
