CRESTVIEW — Christmas is Dec. 25, so the deadline to donate toys or money to area toy drives is approaching.
The Crestview Police Department is collecting new, unused toys and clothes for its 15th annual Cops for Kids program. Donation boxes are located at local Dollar General stores, City Hall on Wilson Street, and the Crestview Police Department, 201 Stillwell Blvd., Crestview.
Dr. Steven Barry recently presented a $300 check to support the program. His donation will help "purchase Christmas presents at this time of Jesus' birthday," a Steven Barry Cosmetic and Family Dentistry spokesperson said.
Residents who also wish to contribute can call CPD Community Service Officers Wanda Hulion, 305-2905, or Sam Kimmons, 305-7831.
In addition, the Brotherhood of Love, a not-for-profit group of Crestview residents, needs these items for its Christmas dinner, 1-4 p.m. Dec. 25 at Carver-Hill School Center, 398 School Ave., Crestview:
●Smoked meat
●Beef and pork roast
●10-pound leg quarters
●White and sweet potatoes
●Frozen butterbeans and frozen peas
●Collard greens
●Pickles
●Rice
●All seasonings, including Jamaican jerk spice
●Sodas and juices
●Desserts
●Paper plates, napkins and plastic cups, knives and forks
