LAUREL HILL — What makes a sweater ugly? According to Laurel Hill School freshmen, it’s a matter of personal taste.
Many of the school’s freshmen participated in Ugly Sweater Day on Dec. 17, the last day of classes before Christmas break.
Here, they share their thoughts about the sweaters.
"An ugly sweater is a sweater that’s ugly,” Jaron Schlinger said matter-of-factly.
“They’re like, goofy. They’re funny,” Micah McVay said, modeling a grey sweater that shows Santa Claus holding up a North Pole sign. “It’s definitely not my choice for everyday wear."
Her friend Laney Fugate, sporting a sweater with a dimensional Santa, wearing a plaid stocking cap while looking out of a chimney, agreed.
“This isn’t something I’d normally wear,” she said.
For Tyler Wigton, his sweater with its Christmas-tree-by-the-fireside and a large “Ho, ho, ho” caption motif wasn’t his choice of cool weather wear at all.
What made it ugly?
“The fact that my grandparents picked it out,” he said.
