LETTER: Graveyard thieves upset Baker mom

On Dec. 20 after church, we went to Live Oak Memorial Park Cemetery. We visit often, as my son and husband have been buried there since 2006.

We had many statues out there in remembrance of our family members. My son loved gnomes, and five of them were placed on our sacred plot.

The only things that were stolen were the gnomes. Three of them have been there since 2006. A Clemson gnome was placed there by a special family member. The first part of December, I purchased two gnomes that were 2 feet high and placed them out there.

It makes you feel like whoever took them have no respect. They were probably given to someone as Christmas presents.

(Thieves) also walked all over the top of the grave  — you can still see their footprints in the stones. We do not walk on the dead. How would you feel if this was your family member's grave?

We made a police report on this, even knowing they cannot do anything about it.

The only solace I have is that the person who took them will have to pay for their deeds before they leave this earth.
