SHALIMAR — A Holt man faces a lifetime prison sentence on charges of sexual battery and molestation.
Circuit Judge Michael Flowers on Jan. 13 sentenced Joseph Cain Johnson to life in prison without the possibility of parole and a concurrent sentence of 25 years in prison, followed by lifetime probation with the condition of a GPS monitor, according to a State Attorney's Office media release.
Johnson was also designated a sexual predator.
A jury found Johnson guilty of sexual battery of a child under age 12 and lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 12.
The jury heard evidence that Johnson had, between 2012 and 2013, sexually molested a 6- to 7-year-old child while the child was at his Holt home.
The sexual battery and molestation occurred on several occasions, according to evidence presented.
The Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation, with the Children’s Advocacy Center's assistance, and made the arrest.
Assistant State Attorney Christine Bosau prosecuted the case.
