CRESTVIEW — A burglary suspect who tried to hide in 2-foot-tall grass found that wasn’t going to work when an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office K9 is on your track.
43-year-old Robert McDonald, of Anderson Street in Crestview, is charged with burglary and resisting arrest without violence.
It started Sunday morning when the OCSO received a residential alarm for a home on 2203 3rd St. near Crestview.
Deputies found a pickup truck parked near a building on the property and the owner determined more than $5,000 in items were missing, including a custom grill, chest full of tools, and wheelbarrow.
Deputy Elliot Howard and K9 “Bady” started a track near the truck and “Bady” quickly focused in on a man hiding in tall grass about 500 feet north of the residence.
He apprehended the man, identified as McDonald, after McDonald refused commands to show his hands.
McDonald was wearing camouflage clothing and gloves when captured.
