CRESTVIEW — Two drivers received injuries after a wreck in front of Walker Elementary School.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol media release, the wreck occurred about 8:27 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Stillwell Boulevard and Rainbow Lane intersection as Natalie McCain, 35, of Crestview, was leaving the Walker parking lot and started to turn left onto Stillwell.
The release states, "The driver of Vehicle-1 (McCain) failed to yield to the oncoming Vehicle-2 as it pulled out to turn left. This caused the front of Vehicle-2 to collide with the driver's side door area of Vehicle-1. The caution light for the school crossing was off at the time of this crash."
The driver of vehicle 2, Leslie Price, 19, of Florala, Ala., was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center.
According to the release, McCain was written up for a violation of right of way making a left turn. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

Editor's Note: The Florida Highway Patrol initially stated that one driver received injuries during this traffic accident.
We have since learned that the driver of the first vehicle also received injuries.
In addition, the initial report stated that first driver was charged with violation of right of way of making a left turn. Although this is true, according to the FHP report, it should be noted that a moving violation is a noncriminal traffic infraction. We removed the word charged, which sounds more serious than it is.
