CRESTVIEW — The 2015-2016 school year is a milestone for the Okaloosa County School District.
Feb. 1 marked the 100th day of the 100th year for the school district, and schools county-wide celebrated with a ceremony.
In commemoration of the last 100 years, a flag raising ceremony took place at every school in Okaloosa County. Each campus received an American flag, which once flew over the nation's capital, donated by Congressman Jeff Miller
Monday at 7:10 a.m. at Crestview High School, teachers and students gathered around the flagpole.
Principal Dexter Day presented a short speech addressing the importance of attending the event.
Soon after, three JROTC raider members marched out to the flagpole to raise the American flag. The three students raised the flag, saluting once the task was completed.
