Baker woman to enter plea on child neglect charge

Whitney L. Kilcrease

BAKER — Whitney L. Kilcrease, 24, is scheduled to enter her plea on a child neglect charge on Feb. 16.

Kilcrease will answer to Judge Jim Ward for allegedly getting drunk while caring for a child. The woman’s father reported finding her unconscious on the floor as the child played nearby, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. She awoke, grew violent and started cursing, the OCSO quoted her father as saying.

Concerned about the child’s safety, the father moved the child from Kilcrease, who allegedly started throwing items inside the house.

A deputy reported finding Kilcrease naked, face-down on the floor. “When I tried to talk to Whitney, her speech was slurred and unintelligible (and she was) unable to stand,” the deputy wrote.

After receiving treatment at North Okaloosa Medical Center, the woman reportedly told deputies when her father left to run errands she started drinking Captain Morgan rum and did not remember anything after that until she awoke at NOMC.
