CRESTVIEW — A Crestview man is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he attacked two friends with a 2-by-4 board during a fight, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

The friends say they had been drinking at Don’s Icehouse Feb. 19 when an argument broke out during the ride home. Terrell Lopez, 34, of 5316 Hare St., got out of the car and attacked 32-year-old Jerry Cleckler with the wooden board, according to the arrest report. 46-year-old Alvin Cowan of Mossy Head tried to intervene to stop the fight.

Cowan suffered multiple facial fractures. Cleckler also had injuries to his face and both arms. Both men were transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview.

Deputies said Lopez was combative on the way to the Okaloosa County Jail and began banging his head against the back of the cage in the patrol car.
