NICEVILLE – Teams from 22 Northwest Florida high schools, more than 170 students, will compete in Northwest Florida State College's 29th annual Math Bowl.
Students will complete a written examination from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, March 4 in the Raider Arena, NWFSC, 100 College Blvd., Niceville.
Math problems will be displayed on a large screen so members of the audience can match their wits against the student competitors. The public is invited to the ciphering match from 12:30-2 p.m. and to the awards ceremony that will immediately follow the afternoon competition.
The event, held by the college's Math Department, is sponsored by Team Eglin and the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Students will team up to correctly solve various algebra, trigonometry, analytic geometry, plane geometry, calculus and miscellaneous problems. Competing schools are divided into three divisions, based on school size.
