CRESTVIEW — Two men accused of trying to take three children from their mothers in September at Crab Island no longer face false imprisonment and kidnapping charges.
Gabriel Gonzalez-Bobavilla, a Crestview resident who is 55 and Daniel Maria Hernandez, a Philadelphia resident who is 54, were arrested Sept. 20. They had been playing with the children of some families anchored nearby, when the children’s parents raised an alarm.
“We investigated and spoke to numerous other witnesses in the area when the incident was reported,” said State Attorney Bill Bishop. “There was insufficient evidence that they intended to kidnap.”
