FORT WALTON BEACH — “Lead, Empower, Act, Discover!” is an upcoming United For A Good Cause Inc. youth leadership conference. UAGC is a local nonprofit, and is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast for the leadership event.
The conference is designed to "cultivate leadership skills, empower youths with the tools, resources and inspiration to live and model civic action, and assist them in discovering their true potential," according to a UAGC media release.
The conference is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the BGCEC Youth Center, 923 Denton Blvd., Fort Walton Beach.
Cost is $10 per person and includes a light lunch and conference materials. Scholarships will be available to cover the conference fee for students from low-income families.
Attendees may qualify for community service points by volunteering the day of the conference.
The keynote speaker, Gary Loster, is president of The Loster Group Consulting Firm. He has served on a number of national and international leadership positions, including chair of the Canadian-American Friendship Games and president and board chair of the World Conference of Mayors, Inc.
The first 25 students that register and attend the event will receive a free copy of Dr. Paul Hsu’s book, “Guardians of the Dream, The Enduring Legacy of America’s Immigrants."
Several local and regional speakers will also participate:
●Peggy Brockman, a John Maxwell Team motivational speaker, corporate trainer, expert in Personality and Interaction Styles, and author of “10 Feet from the Edge: Stuck in the Comfort Zone”
●Gary Westfal, an Amazon No. 1 best-selling novelist and author of “The Dream Operative” and “Key Horizon.”
A light lunch, soft drinks, and water will be provided and a door prize giveaway is planned.
