Crestview man accused of burglary flees into swamp (VIDEO)

CRESTVIEW — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office seeks a Crestview man who allegedly violated probation on burglary charges and fled from a deputy by swimming in a swamp.

A deputy responded to 2927 Aplin Road around 1:15 p.m. on April 12 and allegedly found James Lyn Dubiak, 24, sitting in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Impala parked in the driveway.

Dubiak climbed out of the passenger’s side and began to walk away, according to an OCSO media release.

The deputy noticed the car’s rear vent window was broken and tried to grab Dubiak’s arm, but Dubiak pulled away and fled, according to the release, which stated the deputy chased Dubiak through woods until he went into a swamp with more than 6-feet-deep water.

Deputies set up a perimeter, and K9 members attempted to unsuccessfully track Dubiak.

Anyone with information on Dubiak’s whereabouts can contact the OCSO, 651-7400, or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, 863-TIPS, emeraldcoastcrimestoppers.com, or text TIP214 plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
