At approximately 1:15 p.m., a deputy attempted to make contact with James Lyn Dubiak, 24, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Impala that was parked in the driveway at a residence located at 2927 Aplin Road in Crestview, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

After spotting the deputy, Dubiak climbed out of the passenger side and began to walk away. The deputy noticed the car’s rear vent window was broken and tried to detain him, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Dubiak pulled away and began to run away. The deputy chased him through the woods up until the suspect jumped into a swamp that was about six feet deep and disappeared, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators attempted to locate the suspect after setting up a perimeter and bringing in a K-9 unit, but were unsuccessful.

The suspect now faces two additional felony charges in addition to his outstanding warrants, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s has featured Dubiak on Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers in the past and is asking anyone that has any information about the suspect to contact them at (850) 651-7400.
