Celebrate Earth Day by becoming a Gulf solar energy share pioneer

PENSACOLA — Each year Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 in efforts to raise awareness about our planet and the environment. This year, Gulf Power will also raise awareness of renewable energy, specifically solar power, through a special promotion.

“Renewables, like solar energy, are one more way we can take care of our planet through green initiatives,” said Rick DelaHaya, Gulf Power spokesperson.

“Now is the perfect time for our customers who are passionate about the environment and want to be a pioneer in developing renewable energy in Northwest Florida to learn about our new Gulf Solar Energy Share program.”

The program provides a more affordable alternative for customers who want to support solar but can’t, for reasons like the cost, renting instead of owning, or having a shaded roof. The company also offers subscriptions on solar energy.

To help customers learn more on the program's benefits, the company is planning a promotional giveaway.

Customers can visit the company's Facebook page, http://bit.ly/1QqRQHn, to fill out the required contest submission form April 22-29 and be entered into a drawing for a chance at winning a solar beach-themed giveaway.

The grand-prize winner will receive a special beach gift basket that includes a solar powered waterproof Bluetooth pool speaker, beach towels and smart water. The second place winner will receive a solar-powered backpack, and the third place winner receiving a solar cell phone charger. All winners will be randomly selected and no purchase is required to enter.
