College expands partnership with CareerSource Okaloosa-Walton

NICEVILLE — An open house and reception in the Career Center at Northwest Florida State College celebrates the center's new larger and more prominent location in building 410 of the Student Activities Center. It also heralds an expanded partnership with CareerSource Okaloosa-Walton, which now has an employee based in the Career Center Monday through Thursday.

"For more than three decades, Northwest Florida State College and the local workforce board have worked together in partnership for a variety of employment training opportunities," NWFSC Board of Trustees Chairman Brian Pennington said at the April 20 event. "With this new CareerSource partnership, support to our students will expand beyond career assessments to provide even greater job placement services."

Pennington added that establishing a CareerSource representative on site marks a "new chapter in our collective commitment to serve not only our students, but the community at large. This partnership is a promise to help individuals in our community achieve their personal, education and lifelong goals."

Pam Tedesco, chair of the CareerSource Okaloosa-Walton board, said that CareerSource serves both the job seeker and the business community to meet workforce needs, and having a CareerSource representative on campus provides an opportunity for the organization to maximize its decades-long relationship with the college.
