Children's STEM summer camps scheduled

CRESTVIEW — Three science, technology, engineering and math camps are scheduled in Okaloosa County for incoming sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

Cost is $150 per student for the camps, which are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays as follows:

●June 26 to July 1, STEMM Center, 379 Edge Ave., Valparaiso.

●July 11-15, Davidson Middle School, 6261 Old Bethel Road, Crestview.

●July 18-22, Meigs Middle School, 150 Richbourg Ave., Shalimar.

Campers will work on a common theme of climate change. They will learn about robotics, multimedia and unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) technology.

In the first half of the day, they will learn about core standards in math and science for their grade level. The second half of the day, they will learn to apply those lessons to hands-on activities.

Hands on activities, by grade level, are:

●Sixth-graders: EV3 robotics

●Seventh-graders: Tetrix Robotics

●Eighth-graders: UAV/drone technology

School summer food program lunches are available at Davidson and Meigs, but students must bring their own lunch if attending the STEMM center camp.
