The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's issued this notice:
Just after 10:30 pm on 7-2-16, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call in reference to a missing inmate.
A private transportation company passing through Santa Rosa County stopped at the Interstate 10 eastbound rest area (29 mile marker), just west of Hwy 87. An inmate known to us as John Wesley Saatio reportedly escaped the transportation company's custody.
Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office have been searching the area with the assistance of K-9 units.
Several other Law Enforcement Agencies assisted along with a helicopter.
Saatio was described as a white male, 6’ tall with brown hair, blue eyes, a goatee and visible tattoos. He was last seen wearing civilian clothing.
At this time, we have not been able to locate Saatio.
We have information leading us to believe he may have left Santa Rosa County.
We are continuing to search for Saatio and following up on leads. Anyone who has any information related to this individual is urged to call 911 immediately.

- Visible tattoos and facial hair
