FORT WALTON BEACH — A Florida commission recognizes a Crestview High School coach for his efforts on boating safety.

Capt. Tom Shipp and Brian Rehwinkel presented the Florida Boating Safety Instructor of the Year award to CHS Coach Ernie Martin July 11 at an Okaloosa County School District meeting on behalf of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Martin teaches Physical Education and Outdoor Education. He is also the CHS varsity assistant football coach and weightlifting teacher.

In addition to teaching high school students the art of fishing in his OE class, he also takes one day during the summer to teach youngsters to fish as well. See "Crestview kids learn how to fish at Twin Hills Park camp (PHOTOS, VIDEO)" below.
