CRESTVIEW — A Crestview teen on Wednesday allegedly crashed a stolen car into a tree near Laurel Hill while trying to elude Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
D’Aaron Chance Taylor, 15, was not injured, according to the OCSO.
A deputy reportedly spotted the teen driving a stolen 2016 Toyota Highlander around 6:30 last night on 2nd Avenue near the intersection of Still Mill Creek Road.
When he tried to stop the car, Taylor allegedly sped off at high speed and ran two stop signs without slowing down. He lost control of the car and hit a tree nearly a mile down the road near 2nd Avenue and 8th Street in Laurel Hill, according to the OCSO.
Taylor admitted stealing the car while burglarizing a vehicle on July 12, according to an OCSO media release, which stated a search of the car turned up black gloves and a flashlight.
Taylor is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and possession of
burglary tools. He faces additional charges of car burglary and theft.
