CRESTVIEW — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is asking retailers to carefully check their money to ensure it’s authentic.
This month, two area retailers reported counterfeit $100 bills passed at their stores. In addition, lawmen seized counterfeit $20 bills from people whom OCSO deputies arrested earlier this month in an unrelated offense.
Retailers who suspect a person is passing counterfeit money at their establishments should place the counterfeit money in a separate location from other cash and contact law enforcement.
