MILTON — The Santa Rosa County School District is investigating an Avalon Middle School teacher following reports of unnecessary actions against a student.

"A teacher's behavior has drawn our review," Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick said. "We're conducting a review, interviewing students and personnel.”

Wyrosdick would not release the teacher’s name, but he said a picture of an Avalon student with tape over his mouth and hands is circulating on social media.

"I can confirm a student had tape on his mouth and tape on hands,” he said. “How it got there is under review."

Wyrosdick said the incident occurred last week and the incident was reported Monday. The investigation, he said, should be completed soon.
