Investigators have ruled out homicide in Wednesday's shooting off Red Fern Road that left a middle-aged resident dead, according to a spokesman for the Crestview Police Department. The medical examiner's official cause of death is still pending, the spokesman said. Only a medical examiner can issue an official cause per Florida law.
The victim's name has not been released by CPD.
Officers with CPD responded to the Fox Valley subdivision Wednesday at 6:48 p.m. Officers found the victim with "a single gunshot wound to the chest," according to the department spokesman. The shooting occurred after a domestic disturbance involving the victim and his wife, the spokesman said.
