Choctawhatchee, Crestview pull ahead in academic tournament

FORT WALTON BEACH — The 2017 Cox Communications/Okaloosa Schools Academic Tournament began Jan. 24. Matches air 7-8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays on Cox channels 6 and 1006 through March 6.

Here are results from the first two matches.

Match One:

Choctawhatchee — 230

Fort Walton Beach — 50

Match Two:

Crestview — 80

Baker — 20

Baker team members are captain Alby Clendennin, Dakota Messier-Hensz, Colton Farris, Zac Childs, Kayleigh Burrage and Jurnee French. Their coach is Stacy Burlison.

Crestview team members are captain Everett Schwieg, Patricia Wisenbaker, Tristan Hendon and Meghan Saueressig. Their coach is Joey Lester.

Remaining matches take place Feb. 7, 14 and 21 in Choctaw's Media Center in Fort Walton Beach.

Competing high schools are Baker, Choctawhatchee, Collegiate at Northwest Florida State College, Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville and Rocky Bayou Christian.
