CRESTVIEW — DAR Good Citizen Award winners include area students.

The Choctawhatchee Bay Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recognized six students who, members said, possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. Teachers and peers said they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree, according to a chapter media release.

DAR Good Citizens Committee Chair Deborah Bottenfield and Regent Caroline Maney presented the awards to overall winner Skylar Dennis, Collegiate High School; Caitlin Fidler, Rocky Bayou Christian School; Laurel Hill resident Jennifer Robinson, Crestview High School; Baker resident Mikaela Sites, Baker School; Marah Taylor, Calvary Christian Academy; and Morgan Helmich, Choctawhatchee High School.

Students chosen as DAR Good Citizens may participate in the scholarship portion of the program, which consists of a personal statement and essay. The overall winner's essay is forwarded to the state-level competition.
