North Okaloosa schools represented in Cox Student Hero Awards

NICEVILLE — Cox Communications hosted its annual Cox Inspirational Student Hero Awards on Thursday, May 11 at the Northwest Florida State College Student Services Building in Niceville. Cox recognized 31 students from Okaloosa County who have overcome extreme challenges to serve as an inspiration to their teachers, administrators and fellow students. 

The students were chosen by a committee of leaders at their school. During the event, Cox presented the students with an engraved medal and certificates of honor. Congressman Matt Gaetz and State Rep. Mel Ponder also presented the students with a certificate.

This year’s award recipients from North Okaloosa County schools are:

  • Antioch Elementary: Joshua Brooks-Hornsby
  • Baker School: Dylan Martin
  • Bob Sikes Elementary: Israel Brown
  • Crestview High School: Matthew Arnold
  • Davidson Middle School: Joseph Traver
  • Laurel Hill School: A'zaya Bradshaw
  • Walker Elementary: Damarion Williams
