CRESTVIEW — The Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections will hold Candidate University on Thursday, June 8 and Friday, June 9.
The class is for anyone interested in running for public office or wanting to learn about the candidate process. Two sessions are available – 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, in Shalimar at the Okaloosa County Administration Building and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 9, at the Supervisor of Elections Headquarters in Crestview.
Candidate University consists of a three-hour curriculum focused on the fundamentals of becoming and being a candidate. Participants will be introduced to each step involved in the process including pre-filing, collecting petitions and qualifying.
Campaign pitfalls will also be discussed as well as audits, recounts and contest of elections. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program and there is no cost to attend.
