A Crestview man is among the Northwest Florida Better Business Bureau's recipients of the 2017 BBB Student Ethics Scholarships.
The program recognizes high school junior and senior students in the Florida Panhandle (14-county service area) who demonstrate character and integrity. An independent panel of judges selected the recipients. Each student selected received a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of their choice.
Sean Gabany graduated from Crestview High School in May with a 4.58 weighted GPA—third in his class of over 400 students.
He is described as a conscientious student who possesses a positive attitude toward education and is highly motivated to attend college. As an undergraduate, Sean was dually enrolled in both Northwest Florida State College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He also held several leadership positions, including president of both the Student Government Association and National Honor Society his senior year.
The Crestview High School Student Ambassador assisted new students and represented the school at events. His extracurricular activities included membership in Students Working Against Tobacco, Boy Scouts of America and active membership in his church youth group. Gabany completed over 800 volunteer hours working with these and other community and school organizations.
He will attend Florida State University in the fall.
