CRESTVIEW — Scott Zamorski’s family now sees the fruit of their efforts — literally.
“After [two] years of waiting I grew a pineapple in my backyard,” Zamorski said in a Facebook message to the News Bulletin. “We plan on cutting it off this week (to) sample it.”
The Crestview family bought the pineapple from Winn-Dixie and planted the top.
“For awhile, we had it in a pot,” Zamorski said. “Then, as it got really big, we planted it in the ground. We also have [three] other ones planted that are not blooming yet. One of them was sent from Hawaii.
“It is a very timely process but, in the end, the kids are really excited.”
