Early tax payment deadline approaches
SHALIMAR — Property owners participating in the property tax installment payment plan have until June 30 to pay their first installment, Okaloosa County Tax Collector Ben Anderson said.
The installment plan divides the annual taxes into four payments — due June, September, December and March. It provides a 3.3 percent discount.
The first payment typically must be made by June 30. This year, payment of the first installment will be extended through July 31; however, accounts paid in July may be subject to additional terms.
After the first payment is made, remaining payments are due Sept. 30, Dec. 31 and March 31.

Citizen of the Year nominations due
CRESTVIEW — The city of Crestview and the Mae Reatha Coleman Citizen of the Year Committee will accept nominations for the 2017 recipient until July 1.
Event organizers announced the deadline extension on June 20. Applications are available in the city clerk’s office or at the city of Crestview Facebook Page.

CRESTVIEW — The Seniors vs. Crime office needs volunteers.
Seniors vs. Crime is a Florida Attorney General's office program that has helped protect seniors from fraud since 1989. It partners with law enforcement and other organizations to provide comprehensive assistance. The SVC’s local office handles a variety of scams including used cars and sub-par home improvement and repair projects.
