Santa Rosa residents’ input sought on trail plans

The Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Greenways and Trails is in the process of updating its five-year plan and statewide opportunity and priority trail maps, and is soliciting public input.

As part of the update, the office will hold workshops throughout the state – from Milton to Miami – to receive input from trail users, local planners and the public.

The final draft of the plan and maps will be brought before the Florida Greenways and Trails Council in early December.

“If you like to hike, bike, paddle or ride horses on trails, we need to hear from you,” said DEP’s Office of Greenways and Trails Chief Samantha Browne. “Your input can help shape the future direction of trails for years to come.”

The local public workshop is set Sept. 7, 4-7 p.m. Central at Blackwater Heritage State Trail-Visitor Center, 5533 Alabama St., Milton.
