10 a.m. Oct. 5 update

The Crestview Police Department has identified the shooting victim in an Oct. 4 incident in Crestview.

Brian Hughes, CPD spokesman, confirmed Oct. 5 that Crestview resident Richard Earl Lee King, 22, is still in critical condition at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center's trauma center.

The Crestview Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating the 1:23 a.m. shooting at Crape Myrtle Apartments, on the corner of Lloyd Street South and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Police officers were called out to the apartment complex after residents said they heard gunshots, Hughes said.

Officers said when they arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head. His silver Acura had several bullet holes and had backed into a resident’s car.

Investigators found several shell casings, and located blood on a nearby black Cadillac with a Texas license plate, Hughes said.

“We’re trying to follow a couple leads as to the shooter’s identity and what had transpired,” said Sgt. Ray Harp, a criminal investigator.

"No suspects have yet been identified, and anyone who has information about the incident is requested to contact our Criminal Investigations Division at 682-3544. "
