Officers charge Crestview woman, seek man for aluminum grand theft

Investigators and deputies recovered over 7,000 pounds of aluminum marked with the "KK" as described by the owner after an Oct. 1 robbery. They arrested one suspect and are seeking a second one. [SPECIAL TO THE NEWS BULLETIN]

WALTON COUNTY — Officers arrested a Crestview woman on grand theft and dealing in stolen property charges, according to a Walton County Sheriff's Office media release.

AfterWalton County Sheriff's Office investigators and Fort Walton Beach Police Department officers arrested Lisa Chesser of Crestview. The FWBPD also charged her with dealing in stolen property and false verification of ownership to a pawnbroker.

Officers also issued an active warrant for Tommy Joe Chesser on a charge of grand theft after more than 7,000 pounds of stolen aluminum was recovered. The joint investigation included the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to an Oct. 1 theft at an auto salvage company in Mossy Head. The victim told deputies approximately 9,000 pounds of unique aluminum ingots were stolen from the property. The ingots were uniquely identifiable because the victim branded each with "KK," the initials of his oldest daughter. The metal was worth approximately $0.30 per pound and valued at a total of $2,700.

"Later, 2000 pounds of the stolen aluminum was located at AA Auto Salvage where investigators learned Lisa and Tommy Joe Chesser had sold numerous pieces during separate visits. Further investigation revealed Tommy Joe Chesser also sold 940 pounds of the aluminum to Big Iron Environmental in Fort Walton Beach," the release stated.
