FORT WALTON BEACH — In a tough away game for the Crestview High varsity men’s basketball team, Jan. 11, the Bulldogs faced the Choctaw Indians. Despite excellent shooting, the Bulldogs could not overcome the powerhouse Indians and lost 70 to 54.
From the tipoff, the Choctaw Indians wanted to impose their will on the Crestview Bulldogs by playing a smothering full-court, trap defense. Lead by Diante Smith (24pts) and Josh Williams (9pts 11ast), Crestview was able to stay in the game with their deep sharp-shooting.
Jaden Voisin made an incredible 6 three-pointers in the game! He ended the game with 20 points. Marcus Percell was also able to drain some deep shots ending the night with 20 points. It is no wonder how Crestview was able to shoot 35 percent in the game for three-point shots.
The Bulldogs were able to claw their way to keep the game within 8 points by halftime. Chris Basil showed his teammates he was willing to do whatever it took to help his team, whether diving after the ball or fighting for rebounds.
The Indians were able to utilize their size to clean the glass allowing them multiple opportunities for second chances. The Bulldogs’ determination and no-quit attitude wasn’t enough against the powerhouse Indians. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs have since played the Walton High Braves Monday and the Niceville High Eagles Tuesday. Tonight they face the Bay High Tornadoes.
