CRESTVIEW — Dec. 31, 2018 marked the end of an era for Joy Norris, vice president of marketing at CCB Community Bank. The bank recognized Norris at its annual Christmas party with a heart-inspired ring.
"It has been the most wonderful 25-plus years of my life. It’s hard to believe the day is finally here to say ‘I’ll see you later,’ " Norris said to CCB employees of her retirement.
Norris was hired as a marketing coordinator in July of 1993 and later was promoted to vice president of marketing at CCB, which has locations in Crestview, Niceville; and Andalusia and Opp in Alabama.
CEO Tom Lane said, "When Joy took over the marketing department she said her main purpose was to show how the bank is involved in the community and is concerned about people, a statement she has stood by for over 25 years."
Her signature ads always contained a heart somewhere throughout the ad as a symbol of CCB’s love for the community, a tradition CCB plans to continue.
Norris said, "I’ve witnessed and experienced new inventions, lifestyle conveniences and technology changes, and I can’t wait to see what is yet to come."
Norris took care of the community and employees of CCB, and she will be missed.
CCB President William Mellown said Norris was key to picking the right mediums for the bank use and helped get the company off the ground.
"As times changed, what we used changed and she had to adapt to that … she did a great job going with some of the new marketing tools that are out there, as well as standing by the old tools that she used," Mellown said.
While she loved working at CCB, Norris said she is ready to spend more time with her family. For now, she will be helping her husband, Carl Norris, at C1 Custom Truck, and visit her mother more often.
