Food, finances and fun part of summer schedule

We’ve been in the summer swing here at Crestview Library for several weeks now, but our fun and educational classes are only getting hotter! But don’t worry, we have A/C.

You may have heard of some of our opportunities, like our summer reading challenge, but there is so much more coming in July.

If you wish you could figure out how to wrastle your little chittlins’ into the kitchen to help with dinner, the University of Florida Institute of Food & Agricultural Sciences Extension will be teaching an awesome class. Entitled "My Pizza Plate Night," it starts at 5:30 p.m. July 2 at the library, 1445 Commerce Drive.

This class is free and limited to the first four to five families to sign up, so don’t wait! These pies are going to sizzle!

We will also be hosting All In Credit Union again this year for their financial summer day camp, open to third- through fifth-graders. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 24 at the library. It will feature free snacks, prizes, lunch, educational fun, and more.

For the young adults that want to get their game on, we will be hosting the Okaloosa-wide "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" tournament starting at 4 p.m. Aug. 1. This contest of champions (and beginners too) will have prizes and refreshments, and is open to ages 13-20. Sign up online at www.cityofdestin.com/forms.aspx?FID=176

Not a fan of food, money, or games? You might be an extraterrestrial, but no worries. We still have our Summer Movie series, Lego Free Play, Adult and Kids’ Chess, pub-style Trivia, Open-Mic Poetry, Coffee and Craft, Scrabble Club, Sewing, Cooking, Nutrition Class, Book Club, Summer Kids’ Classes and more!

Check our Facebook page or website at www.cityofcrestview.org/178/Library for the full calendar.

Visit us or call 850-682-4432 to sign up for one of these amazing classes or groups.
