CRESTVIEW — Lolo’s Cakes and Sweets may have closed the doors to its Main Street location, but the company has not gone out of business.
Lolo’s Cakes business owner Priscilla Veale made the announcement on her Facebook page last week.
"With a very heavy heart, we've closed the doors at 106 N. Main Street," Veale said in the post. "We are searching for a new building, but will continue to make cakes while we search!"
Veale bought the Lolo's cakes bakery in 2014 after the previous owner decided to sell the business. At the time, she owned a cleaning company. When she saw Lolo's was for sale, she sold her cleaning company and bought a bakery.
"I had never made a cake in my entire life and just bought the bakery on a whim," Veale said.
Veale said she enjoyed baking growing up and looked at it as art. After three years of owning Lolo's and learning how to make specialty cakes, she moved into the Main Street building in 2017.
"I taught myself how to make cakes and by the grace of God I got better over the years and it worked out," Veale said.
While she looks for a new building for her business, Veale said she will continue to make cakes by working out of her home. Orders will continue to be made by-appointment only until a new place opens up.
"A building with a decent commercial kitchen is hard to find around here," Veale said. "I've been constantly looking but the prices are either too high or someone else takes a place before I get a chance to see it."
Veale is unsure when her business will be able to move into a new building, but she remains hopeful that she will one day work at full capacity again.
"We are not done with our journey! Keep the orders coming, and thank you for your support!" Veale wrote in a post on the business' Facebook page.
