BAKER — Florida Artist Blacksmithing Association and the Baker Block Museum will conduct a living history experience about life in early north Okaloosa County, with an emphasis on the role of blacksmithing upon the county’s development.
The free event starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Baker Block Museum, 1307 Georgia Ave., Baker.
It will include an inside tour of the blacksmithing shop on the museum’s grounds. Afterward, members of the Florida Artist Blacksmithing Association will light their forges and begin pounding out metal projects under their canopy until 2 p.m. Using only hammer, fire and an anvil to create practical and fanciful articles, their projects will include making nails, hooks, knives, tongs and other items.
FABA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to teaching and preserving the art and craft of the blacksmith and is happy for the opportunity to support the Baker Block Museum's mission to "Experience.
