CRESTVIEW — Paula Demers, sister of city manager Tim Bolduc, passed away on Wednesday.
Her passing came just 10 days after she was diagnosed with cancer.
“We’re still trying to process it but she was my oldest sister and I loved her very much,” Bolduc said. "Paula’s illness and passing were very sudden and will leave a great void in my life."
Paula, the oldest of six children would often be hard on Bolduc, who was the youngest of the group.
"She always expected my best in everything and tried to make sure I never settled for less," Bolduc said.
Paula was one of her brother's biggest supporters. One of his favorite memories of his sister came after he became the Crestview city manager.
“When I got the job as city manager, she was watching it,” Bolduc said. “She said ‘I just wanted to tell you congratulations, but don’t forget there’s a whole lot of politics. If you screw it up, I will kick your butt.’ ”
Bolduc said his sister taught him many things over the years, but three things stand out: Always try to live out your faith unapologetically, put your focus on a relationship with God which will help you love others and stand up for those who can not stand for themselves.
Paula and Tim’s mother, Irene, passed away earlier this year from Alzheimer’s. After her death, Paula became very involved in fighting against the disease.
The family has asked that anyone interested donate to the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Maker’s Team.
“Her faith and her family were very important to her,” Bolduc said. “We will try to keep her legacy living on."
