City of Crestview submitting Main Street for HGTV renovation show

CRESTVIEW — City of Crestview staff is submitting the Main Street area for a chance to be renovated on a new HGTV series.

The series, called “Home Town Takeover,” is hosted by Ben and Erin Napier. The pair will be going throughout the United States to help renovate small towns.

In order to be considered, there are three requirements a city must meet: have a population of less than 40,000, have buildings with outstanding architecture that would benefit from revitalization and include a Main Street that is in desperate need of a makeover. The submission should also include a video of the town and why it would benefit as well as up to five photos of the town.

“We are very excited about it,” said City Manager Tim Bolduc said. “We’re a perfect fit and I think we’d make a good candidate.”

If Crestview’s Main Street were to be chosen for the show, Bolduc said it would benefit the city in multiple ways.

“I think it’s an amazing opportunity both for the recognition and as a catalyst to do some of the revitalizing that needs to be done on Main Street,” Bolduc said.

According to Bolduc, there is no limit on how many times a city can be submitted. City staff is asking that any willing residents make their own submission with a focus on the downtown area.

“If we have 100 people submit Crestview, we have a better chance,” said City Clerk Betsy Roy said.

Roy added that the city would not mind using a few photos of older homes near the downtown area.

Anyone who owns a home that meets that criteria and would like to help should send in a photo and permission of use to cityclerk@cityofcrestview.org.
