CRESTVIEW — Perfect Fit 24/7 in Crestview will host a Defenders of Freedom-Florida Powerlifting Challenge.
The event is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Perfect Fit 24/7 gym, located at Unit 1, 4381 S. Ferdon Blvd., Crestview.
Competition will be via three events, bench, squat and deadlift, with awards for the top three finishers in the male and female weight classes.
Defenders of Freedom-FL is a nonprofit with the primary mission of combatting veteran suicide and a concentration on post-9/11 veterans.
"We are doing this to raise awareness about the veteran suicide issue and also to promote health and fitness," Jamie Wells, DOF-FL CEO, said.
"I just want to reach and help as many veterans as we can and let them know we’re here. I am a retired Army sergeant major with 24 years as a Ranger and Infantryman with multiple combat tours so I understand firsthand," Wells said.
