CRESTVIEW — In another sign that the community is shaking off the scourge of COVID-19, the Crestview Police Department’s regular Coffee With a Cop program returns.
Hours are 8-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23 at Casbah Coffee Co., 196 Pine Ave. W. in downtown Crestview.
The CPD Community Services program offers residents an opportunity to meet informally with Chief Stephen McCosker and some of his officers. The coffee and conversation flow freely. Topics are whatever police-related concerns or praises folks want to discuss.
“We always welcome people to come chat with us at the police department,” Community Services Officer Sam Kimmons said. “But sometimes, it’s a little intimidating and formal for some folks to meet with us at the office. Coffee With a Cop is laid back and you can bring up anything that’s on your mind.”
The June 23 event will also introduce Officer Chris Anderson as CPD’s new Community Services officer, who, as Kimmons’ partner, will continue the work of now-retired Officer Wanda Hulion, while implementing ideas and innovations of his own.
Casbah will offer free regular coffee during Coffee With a Cop. Specialty drinks and food are Dutch treat.
“We’re glad to restart this valuable way for residents to meet their police chief and officers and share what’s on their mind,” Kimmons said.
