DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A Crestview man is dead following a traffic accident that occurred around 3:42 p.m. Tuesday in Walton County.
Daryl A. Barton, 31, was driving a 2003 Toyota pickup north on Hinote Road, south of the intersection with Jones Road.
The vehicle drifted onto the east shoulder, and Barton veered his vehicle left, traveled across Hinote Road and entered the west shoulder.
He overcorrected and the pickup again crossed Hinote Road, rotating clockwise, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The truck entered the east shoulder and overturned to the left.
It came to final rest against trees on the east shoulder, upright, facing south.
During the overturning sequence, Barton was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest north of the truck.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A seat belt was not used; an alcohol investigation was pending.
