This black Mercury Mountaineer SUV hit the red Dodge Ram pick-up truck, which then struck an SUV in front of it Monday afternoon while traffic stopped on Ferdon Boulevard North in Crestview, police said. One person was injured and had to be transported to a local hospital.

CRESTVIEW — Three vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction traffic accident around 2:35 p.m. Monday on Ferdon Boulevard North and Texas Parkway.

Crestview Police and Fire Department units and an Okaloosa County Emergency Medical Services ambulance responded to an accident involving a black Mercury Mountaineer SUV, a red Dodge Ram pick-up truck and a third black SUV.

The Ram pick-up rear-ended the first SUV, and was then rear-ended by the Mountaineer, according to police.

“The person that was in the back of the accident basically pulled in behind them and hit them,” Crestview Police Department spokesman, Cmdr. Andrew Schneider said. “He was found at fault.”

Schneider said some of the occupants and drivers received minor injuries. The EMS ambulance transported one person to a local hospital.

Some of the responding officers had to leave the accident scene midway through the aftermath to respond to another accident, Schneider said.

“It’s been crazy out there,” he said.
