On Oct. 27 a deputy was driving northbound on Godfrey Street when he noticed an SUV trying to pass another vehicle ahead of him. As the SUV passed the car, it began to fishtail and almost ran off the sandy road.
As the deputy pulled closer to the SUV to conduct a traffic stop and cite the driver for reckless driving, the car turned into a driveway. The driver got out and ran inside a residence. A short time later he emerged and told the deputy he ran because he didn't have a valid driver's license.
The deputy checked and found the man's license had been suspended for DUI. When the deputy tried to arrest the man, he took off across the front yard and made it about 75 feet before the deputy's Taser brought him down.
He was charged with obstruction without violence and will answer to a judge on Nov. 20.
