CRESTVIEW — A Nov. 6 search for a man who ran while deputies were investigating a suspicious activity call ended when two Laurel Hill residents located him hiding inside their pickup truck and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
According to an Okaloosa sheriff's office press release, Sgt. Mark Raiche was responding to the call on West Plympton Road around 2:15 p.m. when he saw a man outside the home, later identified as 31-year-old Jacy Dane McCuiston. As Raiche questioned him, McCuiston gave him a fake name and took off running.
An extensive search was conducted that included the use of tracking dogs from Okaloosa Correctional Institution. At approximately 9 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person on Harper Road in Laurel Hill.
According to the press release, the homeowner was aware of the fugitive at large in the area. When she went to check on her vehicles, she saw a man inside her truck. She and her husband retrieved their guns and when the man got out of the truck and came towards them, they ordered him to stop. They held him there until deputies got on scene to take him into custody.
Deputies learned McCuiston had outstanding felony warrants for burglary, grand theft, and grand theft of a firearm.
