CRESTVIEW — A homeless man who was sitting on a bucket outside a tractor supply store was arrested for trespassing after an officer recognized him from a previous incident at the store.
On July 15 two Crestview Police Department officers were patrolling the James Lee Boulevard area when the officer riding shotgun noticed the 55-year-old man sitting on a bucket outside Tractor Supply Company. It so happened the officer had previously issued a trespass warning to the man and remembered explaining to him he was not to return to any store within the plaza.
The man was charged with trespass after warning, a misdemeanor.
His plea date is Aug. 13.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old Santa Rosa Beach man was arrested after he allegedly swung on a Crestview Police officer and resisted arrest, according to a report.
The man, Ian Carlos Lara of Ash Street, Santa Rosa Beach, is accused of swinging his arm and striking a police officer on the right side of his chest. The officer was wearing a bulletproof vest.
The officer said Lara admitted beforehand he was drunk.
When officers tried to get control of Lara and prevent him from running out into a road, he pushed away and struggled, the report indicated.
The episode was witnessed by a passerby.
The report didn’t say why police had been called to the Quigley Drive location of the incident, or why Lara was combative.
He was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.
His plea date is Aug. 27.
