Crestview Area Youth Association football camp starts July 22

CRESTVIEW — Aspiring grid iron standouts of all skill levels can attend the Crestview Area Youth Association's Football Camp 2013.

The camp — presented by Crestview High School head football coach and athletic director Tim Hatten — is for youth ages 5-18 and runs July 22, 23 and 25 at the CHS football practice field.

"We did this last year and it worked real well," youth association spokesperson Rebecca Martin said. "It teaches the players the fundamentals of football. It really is an excellent program."

Hatten is rounding up guest players from college teams and "maybe from the NFL" to help conduct the camp, Martin said.

The camp will teach playing techniques and sharpen players' abilities, she said. While the camp offers practice for potential middle and high school football players, it is also a fun activity for kids who enjoy the sport but don’t plan to try out for a team.

Participants should wear cleats and carry a water bottle, but otherwise no equipment is required, Martin said.
